Quick update, I did go to the doctors, they checked me out and said yes the muscles around they neck would give me some pain which should go with 3 days of ibruprofen. They do not use the word whiplash.
They logged everything and said it would be completely normal for this to happen in this type of accident.
Told the claim handling company who will pass it to their solicitors who will act on it if I want too.

I will see how things progress, will only push it if it gets worse.

The only word of warning I would say is to be mindful that the ibuprofen doesn't end up masking a bigger problem. Alas, GPs don't have specialist knowledge of the physiology of the head, neck and shoulders and will often treat problems in this area with a "you've pulled a muscle or two - take these!" approach. Of course, it's up to you mate, but for entire piece of mind, I'd get yourself along to a chiropractor. Believe me, I speak from experience Very Happy

Sorry Cliff, that's a real bummer for you! However, I think the whiplash is worth a few grande (friend of mine won that much, no probs) so perhaps you can afford to upgrade the small courtsey car to something "more suitable"? Doesn't your insurance have an uninsured losses section which recover and rectify these types of anomalies, including lost income? Good luck with the whole claim Cliff. Neutral

Cheers Shmoogle, understand what you are saying. I am not a big one for taking loads of tablets anyway so I will probably just see how it goes for a few days.

Thanks Brian, the whole claim is being handled by a firm called Call 24-7 (part of Daimler Chrysler) they basicly take over the whole claim and make their money from the hire of the replacement van. My insurance company will have nothing more to do with it.

A friend of mine in London who owns a bodyshop uses this kind of firm a lot, faster turnaround of claims, guaranteed payment, no excess to pay, like for like vehicle provided.

They will only take claims where the vehicle is not usuable and when there is no dispute over blaim.

Good to hear nothing to serious

My solicitor pointed out to me when i made a claim that it is not necessarily just the injury caused at the time of the accident, it is important to make a claim just in case you have any problems in the future, which might be not obvious at the time.

At the end of the day it is your decision as to weather to pursue it or not some of my Previous cars

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

I had a similar type of incident a few years ago, where I was tail ended at a traffic island. At the time of the incident I thought there was no injury and everything was fine apart from the damage to my wife's car. (Which I was using because someone had reversed into my Freelander the week before. Shocked )

Later in the day my neck and shoulders started to stiffen up and I reported this to my GP and insurance company. I too was treated with a couple of days worth of ibuprofen. In the end I was awarded a couple of hundred quid as compensation, as I didn't actually loose any time from work.

I think the insurance companies are beginning to tighten up on this type of claim and the large pay outs that we have all heard of in the past are becoming few and far between. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
