I would think that you could qualify for a government grant to reduce your power consumption. I dont think that would stretch to buying a new TV though, maybe some candles some of my Previous cars

My son's school has a 10m wind turbine and is the windiest school is Sussex. It produced about £300 of electricity in its first year. The wind has to produce the correct voltage (unless using batteries) or the electricity is lost. I don't think any house holder is likley to install such a machine added to the fact it cost £30K plus servicing I don't think that is the answer.

It depends on how much you want to save our planet Exclamation If you were a GP activist then you would be prepared to spend any amount in order to reduce global warming. Wink

If we were responsible people we would sell our RRS and put the money towards a wind farm in the garden, and with whats left we could by a really green car like a Prius Rolling Eyes

Sorry i got carried away im on the wrong site Embarassed some of my Previous cars

When you say wind turbines I assume you're not talking about those massive ones you see down in Cornwall and that they're planning to build up in the Hebrides? How can you have one of those in your garden?

I will be just content with reducing my electrical consumption in the short term

we are in the process of bidding for some development properties - if they come our way, we will be utilising various technologies (Geothermal pumps, energy saving lighting systems etc) to reduce consumption

About enough to recharge a torch battery! We have 2 Aerogens and 3 large solar panels on the boat I sail on on the west coast of Scotland and between them they are just enough to keep the house batteries charged up in the Scottish climate.
It actually turns out to be a very expensive way to make electricity.
I heard on the radio a couole of weekes back a lady complaining that some company in the north of England (she lived on the North York Moors) had sold her £200,000 worth of solar panels and wind turbines and in the first year of use she had made something like £300 worth of electricity and had not put any power back into the national grid as forecast in all projections that had been done for her................... basically it had been a white elephant for her, and something she would be paying for for a very long time instead of it being an investment. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
