I have started to raise the ride height to full when parking in any pay & display public parking. i used to look for the BMW or Merc to park between but since i purchased the RRS with side steps i park next to anything low slung, i note that when rise height is full the other vehicle often leave paint marks on my alloy steps which i can live with as they can easily be T- cut off afterwards, hence no door dings & plenty of damage to the uncaring other drives who slam your doors with theres.

Welcome George, like most of us, I have the same dilemma, the only problem is, that some of these tw*ts ,realising that your side steps have skinned the paint off their doors, (even though it's their carelessness) will promptly hoof all your doors for you in the process............just a thought.

If I can take my mother shopping when I want to do mine then I do........ I then have the choice of either a) Parking in the disabled bays as she has a special permit.................
or b) I park in the mother and child bay.................... she's my mother and I am her eldest son, it never says how old the mother (late 70's)and child (late 40's) have to be

Otherwise I try to find the slots as far away from the supermaket doors as possible as nobody likes to walk all that distance these days! If it is too wet then "accidentally" parking in 2 slots works well but tends to get other customers' backs up!

If you take a look in most newish multistorey carparks there are doors to emergency exit stairs for pedestrians that have slots beside them that have yellow hatching - the parking bays either side tend to be 1.5 slots wide so you can park with no fear of getting door dings. In Glasgow and Stirling I also tend to drive straight to the top floor where often there is no-one else parked! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I do the same as Tim and try and park in the moter and child spaces,or find a space away from other vehicles. But good idea about the side steps, ive got them fitted ill try it  some of my Previous cars

That's my method. ...good tip on the height, but not practical for the wife.
