Insurance Claim................

Just had a letter from the company to say we must drive more carefully with our ships as they have just received 2 claims - one for damage to a jetty and the other for knocking down a crane - of a mere $50,000,000. Makes our motoring bumps pale into insignificance doesn't it! Of course those claims
include compansation for lost use of the terminals that were clobbered while they make the repairs - gantry cranes are not exactly available off the shelf! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thankfully no TB................ The problem for big companies like the one I work for is that they set the deductable really high (not that high though!) but basically that is the cost of a new ship the size of the one I am on! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Jay yes I have PDC onboard - both MANual and electronic................. had radar forward and also a crewman standing in the bow and stern who is supposed to tell me the distance to the nearest ships when we are manouvring into a berth. Sometimes the port ops folks get their tapemeasures twisted up and try to slot us into a parking space that is too short though and often pilots think the ship can be manouvred like a car.

Shmoogle - handbrake turns are great fun but you need a lot of space. Doughnuts are even more fun and we have to practice them as they are part of our safety set-up in the case of having to lower our emergency boat for a man-overboard Laughing They create a huge calm area inside the turn which is ideal for sending away the lifeboat and they also slow the ship down very very quickly - a normal "emergency" stop would take 14 minutes to complete but if you stop the engine and do a doughnut the ship will come to a halt in about 10 minutes problem is that as you slow down the turning circle increases hugely to about 1.8miles across from about 1 mile...............
We don't encourage such reckless driving normally but there are times when we have to play! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I always remember a clip in the "Navy News" (Royal Navy's own newspaper) about an officer that actually water ski'ed off the back of a Type 21 Frigate.

Where do these people get their idea's from? Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
