RRS Shuddering.

Hello,

I'm looking at a 2007 RRS 3.6V8 to buy, I do very much like the car, right colours (inside & out), very nice condition,........... but it has an issue. Up to 65 the ride is silky smooth and then a shutter sets it, through the whole car and is still there at 75.

It starts quite quickly and stops as soon as the speed drops below 65.

The lady that owns it has spent a lot of money chasing this fault and has the bills to prove it, however, none of the workshops appear to be RR specialists.

My gut feeling is that it's a wheel/tyre/fitment issue although none of the workshops have suggested this.

Any thoughts on what else to look for please ?

Thanks, according to the paperwork it's had a new prop, however, I've not got underneath it yet.

Has gearbox torque converter been replaced ?
Or Dr. Tranny added to Gbox oil?

It's road rather than engine speed related.

Not sure about Dr Tranny - is there an issue with it ?

Dr Tranny helps if the torque converter is worn.

Usually a worn torque converter shows up at much slower speeds, so probably isn't that. Just wondered if it had been tried

Have another look at the propshaft, if it was a cheapo fleabay special it could well be out of balance even if it was "new". Might also be worth having the wheel balance checked again, can't do any harm.

Cheers

Thanks, the lady who has the car is letting me take it to a local LR/RR specialist next week, their gut feeling (from my description) is a wheel &/or tyre issue/

There are others around but I do really like this one so I'll wait it out before I dive in or walk away.

Still open to other suggestions though and I appreciate the help so far.
