ACE problems

Hi everyone. I have a problem with the ACE system on my 2015 sport. It has spent 5 months at a specialist who have replaced the reservoir, pump and valve block to no avail. The original items have now been refitted.

Basically when driving the suspension warning will come on and the ACE fluid will spill from the reservoir cap.

Only fault code that keeps coming back is C119-09 hydraulic pressure.

C1B11-62 and C1B11-92 have also been present from time to time.

Any ideas before I have to give up on this car?

So the codes indicate pressure loss at the front and rear anti rolls.

Have you had any leaks anywhere from the hydraulic pipes or loss of fluid?
When they put the new parts in valve block etc did they do the bleed procedure through the GAP tool or another tool?

And the new valve block they put in was a new one or a used one?

Usually replacing the block removes the errors as the block is fitted with the pressure sensors and is 99% of the issue for these fault codes.

Check this thread also and report back;

The only fluid loss is when it overflows the reservoir and starts spilling from the tank. The valve block was a genuine new part which has since been removed.

The only odd thing ive noticed is the return line pressure at idle is over 40 bar. Is this normal?

So the fluid is coming out the reservoir with the cap screwed on?

Yes that's correct. Currently the tank empties when starting the engine and fills back to the min max lines when you shut off

There's something wrong with the lines/fluid flow as the tank shouldn't empty.

Have you had any previous work done on the anti roll bars previously - I think the issue is in the actual bars themselves - did you have the bleed procedure done and vacuum fill the reservoir?

PS When it empties have you tried filling it back up (whilst its running) - it sounds like the fluid is not getting around the system - possible air lock somewhere.

I will try this. There is plenty of air bubbling out into the reservoir when the engine is running. Thank you very much for your help so far. I will try filling whilst the engine is running. If this doesn't work, perhaps a vacuum fill is the only way forward

Sounds like youve got an airlock somewhere - fill it back up when it empties then put it in dynamic mode if you can and drive round a few roundabouts on full lock this will get the anti roll bars moving and it should self bleed.

Since you had the codes before - you should try it with a new valve block as your old valve block could be dead - when they put the new one in they should have done the vacuum fill and bled the system this would have ruled out replacing the pump, lines, reservoir etc

As the error codes are the same whether the block is bad or there's not enough fluid/pressure in the system due to an air lock. The garage should have explained this to you!

Let us know how you get on refilling and trying to bleed it.

ps this is what the bleed procedure looks like on the GAP tool

Thats great info. Thanks! Can I presume that if I get hold of SDD and carry out that bleed procedure, if my valve block is dead the car presumably will not perform the rocking motion. Just wondering if its worth trying this before fitting another new valve block.

Yes correct it wont initiate the bleed procedure. I think most newer AUTEL/Snap Ons have the bleed procedure in the modules also.

Try the refill and self bleed first though.

Great advice and I concur. You need to open the solenoids and pressure by-pass in the valve block to do a proper bleed. This won't happen unless you use a tool to put the ACE system into bleed mode. Its a great system until you need to crack it open. Also the workshop manual says the system is EXTREMELY sensitive to contamination so watch you don't get any rust or dust particles in the fluid. MY20 L494 4.4 A/B Chipped Indus Silver

Ok so using an Autel MK908, Ive put the system in to automatic bleed. The car however does not move at all. Lots of aerated oil throthing around in the reservoir.

Does it sound as though the valve block is at fault? Its odd as the specialist assured me that was the first component they replaced.

Does the bleed system operate on the Autel - like start and finish as it would give an error that it cant start due to a fault code.

Did you top up the fluid also?

The car shouldn't move, but it is quite an involved procedure to get this right. I think it sounds like you need to follow step by step, maybe a couple of times. Workshop manual as below;
