L494 facelift bumper conundrum

Good afternoon all, I’m a newbie here, and arrive hopeful that all you RRS experts can help me with my bumper conundrum….

I have recently purchased a 2017 Range Rover Sport Autobiography, that has been facelifted (rather poorly) by the previous owner.

Since ownership the dash has shown the fault ‘IEB system not available (radar sensor blocked)’. I had this investigated, and apparently the facelift bumper that’s been fitted is not compatible with my car as it blocks the radar unit for the Adaptive Cruise Control. What I am struggling to find out is the correct 2018-22 bumper part number that would be compatible?
Hope that makes sense!

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

Enjoy your weekend all.

Many thanks
Simon

The radar sensor fits into a cutout in the crashbar, so I wonder if the non facelift crashbar is causing the alignment problem as the crashbar is different on the facelifted model.

I'd start by removing the front bumper and see if the problem is solved as there is adjustment in the bracket that holds the sensor in the crashbar, if this is misaligned it'll never work, whether a bumper is fitted or not. There's a special tool to align the sensor bracket and then the sensor will need to be calibrated.

Here's the tool (I'm sure you could fabricate one from a spirit level)

Hope this helps

2 RRS is correct you do not want to purchase anything until you have removed the existing bumper and checked what's going on with the radar. It's possible to fit the bumper you currently have the ducts / grill behind might have been changed / modified.

In terms of what bumper you need that depends on what options you have. All bumpers from 13-17 are the same but they have options such as side PDC sensor and front middle camera. You need to know what options you have before deciding. Apart from the few additional holes I have mentioned. It should be easy to find the bumper you need and hopefully in colour so you don't need paint it.
