MT tyres to North Cape

Hello!
My neighbor and I are going to Finnmark in northern part of Norway. He has a MY 2006 RRS with Brembo brakes. I have a MY 2005 Defender 110 with GG X3 235/85 R16.
The RRS are going to need MT tyres and he has a pair of original 19 inch alloy rims he can use. The plan is to highten the car with 1 inch (?) so the new wheels will fit nicely.
Do the forum have any idea of size and brand for this project? Looking forward to hear from you.
Best regads,
Bernt

You are pretty limited for MT tyres on a 19 inch wheel, unfortunately. The standard size is 255/50/r19 but you can fit 255/55/r19 quite happily. In the UK, at least, you'd be pretty much limited to the General Grabber X3 and then some from the likes of Comforser (a Chinese maker) and the Davanti Terratoura M/T although I've no experience with any of them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thank You for answer. Is there any point of lifting the car with Johnson (?) rods?
55 to 60 will lift the car by 13 mm, but touch the wheel arch, I understand.
The neighbor is seeking a soft ride over the trail.

Generally speaking, if you raise the ride height, the ride becomes a bit harder. Not sure why that should be but it's my experience anyway. Never used Johnson rods but no reason not to use them, just remember that you reduce the amount of spare travel in the suspension should you find yourself sat on a bit of high ground. As a cheap method of raising the standard ride height, rods work fine.

How fast are you likely to be driving on the trail? If it's less than 50km/h, it should stay in raised ride height setting albeit it will "ping" a warning at you if you get near to 50km/h.

Does your friend have an ODB code reader for the trip? Sometimes these vehicles will throw an error that can mess you around but it's just a transient error that can be cleared with no subsequent problems arising. A very useful bit of kit to have on a trip. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

We where in Finnmark last month, on a sami trail, and a V8 RR P38 came along. He had MT that war a little bigger than standard, and could keep up a bette pace than I could. He had also mounted coil springs and impressed me with on the stoney trail.
Me friend also got impressed, and it was there and then we started talking on useing the RRS in the same manner.
The speed on this trails are well below 50, my car is happiest when we use walking pace. Maybe a bit more when aired down.
We checked price on GG x3, but in Norway the are more than 2000 GBP. The Chinatire Comforser 3000 will in Norway cost below 700 GBP. These tires are tested in the USA and get ok performance.
So, there are where we are today.
Will enclose some pictures from september trip.

Wow, that's a huge price difference and going for the Comforser makes total sense for your use. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
