ZF 6HP28 ATF oil

Just trying to confirm this....... Are ZF Lifeguard oils backward compatible i.e. Can Lifeguard 8 or Lifeguard 9 be used in place of Lifeguard 6 for the 6-speed ZF 6HP26 or 6HP28 automatic boxes.

I believe the answer is a resounding "NO" but an oil dealer claims that there is backward compatibility.

Yes, they are backwards compatible

8HP oil can be used safely in a 5HP and 6HP gearbox
