Retrofit TV

Hello,

For what its worth, probably a dumb choice.

Id like to think I could retrofit a TV module to my Autobiography Sport 2010.

I have factory fit rear entertainment as standard and wondered if I could loop into this system, seeing as though I have the fakra and fibre optic for the rear screens, is it possible to add TV to the system.

I have the 3x antenna modules which would live in the drivers side rear window, as I bought a job lot when I was chasing the lack of DAB reception a few months ago.

I understand Id need the TV module, that sits further forward of the DAB module on the left side of the boot area.

Am I being dumb thinking I can add the TV in?

or would I need to run a separate fakra and fibre optic to the headunit? like in the guide that was created a few years back which someone was kind enough to create on here.

If its too much hassle, its not too much of a problem, as I understand the reception is sketchy anyway so I'm lead to believe?

Also, whilst on the subject of retrofitting....

I have programmed timed climate to my display screen and it turns on the FBH every time. I see a kit on ebay for £159 which is sold as a kit for the L322, the guy asked me what colour plug I had in the offside boot area space, Id responded it was black, but thats the last I heard from him.

Again, is there a kit I can buy or do I need to buy the parts individually, I understand its a Telestart T91.

Cheers in advance

Dean

Any thoughts?

Dean

Might help, but unless TV programmes have improved since I lived in the U.K I wouldn't bother, probably more trouble that it's worth, unless you keep the engine running it will shut down after few minutes.

Hi Col,

Yes I'd seen the 'how to' guide.

From what I can see if I already have Rear Entertainment I need a lead to add into the system.

I just wondered if anyone in the same situation as myself had successfully added it?

I'm not sure however like you say the worthiness of it, due to crap reception.

Id be more interested in adding DAB+ which I understand others have done, which would be more beneficial to myself.

Reading through this ‘how to’ again, if I have RSE as I have, do I still need to run a cable to centre console? I’d of hoped I could have added the relevant to tuner boxes in the rear windows and the module?

I appreciate the tuning and reception was to be desired, I’d probably not bother.

My mrs has TV in her Mercedes ML and the channels are endless.

Cheers in advnce

With you only being able to watch while stationary
And the fact it shuts down after 5 mins with the engine off it’s pointless.

Yea I think you need to run a cable to the front. Not fakra in 2010 though.

Regarding FBH. Look on disco 4 forum. That’s the setup you need

Hi,

I’ve programmed in FBH and have it on the remote now, nice little mod.

As for TV it would just be a gimmick thing, I’ve an autobiography on a 2010, so understand it should be reasonably straight forward I’d hoped, already having the rear screens.

Handy though if your a caravanner like I am and can watch TV while the mrs is in tescos.

Cheers Dean

As your RRS has the rear screen entertainment system you can already watch DVDs when the better half is at Tescos. Who needs TV.
