United Kingdom

Reading all the conversations I think people believe there's one single cause of failures when, like most things, it's cumulative.
Diluted oil can cause worn rings, but then so can undiluted but dirty oil as it makes the oil abrasive. The crank is a little short with too little material in some places which, which may be compounded with an additional manufacturing defect in some might influence it. RRs are much heavier than any other user which inevitably puts more strain on the crank.
So all of these factors combine to cause crank failures in some cases, whilst other, seemingly identical cars go on to stellar mileages.
My old Jag is on 130k and is fine. Is that because it always had regular oil changes and good filters, is it because it's a Jag so lighter or was it all of those things with a dash of luck?

All fixes come down to more regular oil changes, but that still may not save you. 2021 L494 D300MHEV Autobiography

Totally agree
Im currently on 145k - Oil changes every 5k
Dont over rev over 3000rpm
Mix of motorway driving and around town.
Always let the engine warm when first starting and when stopped/parked up at home leave it in P for 30/40 seconds before turning off.

As with all cars you look after it and it will look after you. Thumbs Up
