Parts Availability/JLR Hack Issues

I need a new windscreen and its delivery to Autoglass has now not happened on three separate occasions in the last week. No-one is saying it is related to the hack but it seems very likely to me?

Spoke to my dealers parts department whom confirmed they can order nothing until further notice and that could be weeks, maybe even many weeks.

Autoglass can supply a non OE screen tomorrow but Land Rover Insurance insist it has to be OE.

LR Insurance did say they were having meetings to discuss that policy as obviously it's not just windscreens that are affected.

One thing they did say is that my warranty might be invalidated by fitting a non OE windscreen.

Anyone any knowledge or thoughts on that particular point?

My 494 was due in LR York this morning to fix the rattling rear shelf.
Got a call last night to cancel. JLR are effectively paralysed. No deliveries, can't communicate, no warranty claims, nothing, so the dealers can't operate either.

So yeah - probably related.

On the warranty point - nonsense.
The new screen itself may not be covered, but that's covered by the auto windscreens warranty for any issue that may effect it. And what could that be? Delamination? Heater failure. If that happens in a sensible amount of time, just call AW.
Other than that, what possible difference could a windscreen make to the car? Not asif it could cause a misfire or a suspension issue, or even that, if the car was in for a warranty issue, anyone is going to look at the screen and say ahhh. Nah, it's fine.

Warranties are funny things. I once had a warranty refusal for an alarm on an Audi. They tried to tell me that because it was serviced 'late' (16 months), the warranty was void. I pointed out that aside from the fact that it was serviced when the dash service warning came up (in fact early as it it still had 3 weeks to go), could they please explain what essential maintenance they'd have been able to do to the alarm to stop it failing? Could they please show me where the alarm is even mentioned on their service schedule?

It was funny because the dealer service manager couldn't justify it either, so called Audi. I could hear both sides of the call and they were arguing, until the service manager said, 'You'll need to explain that to the customer - I'll put him on. Oh Ok' and he put the phone down. They re-instated the warranty. 2021 L494 D300MHEV Autobiography

Many thanks for your input 41jules1967. That seems entirely logical to me and was also my thinking although in these times I find myself increasingly hesitant to follow such conclusions when one is often up against someone looking for an 'out' from their obligations for any reason they can think of.
