Locking without alarm setting

Due to a change of circumstances my dog travels with me most days. In an ideal world it wouldn't happen but on occasions I have to leave him in the car. Alas I have tried without success to find a way to lock it without activating the alarm.

I have tried;

Only pressing the fob lock button once - doesn't work. As soon as he moves the alarm goes off.

Locking by pressing the door handle button only once - doesn't work. Same result as above.

Leaving the windows slightly open makes no difference to either. As summer appears to have been ended in Scotland I've tried it with the windows shut and the same thing happens.

Phoned the dealer. Service department as unhelpful as ever and suggested a call out from roadside assistance. Phoned back and spoke to a salesman whom told me that it's now not possible to lock the car without activating the alarm on RRS & FF due to the need to make the cars as theft proof as possible.

Now whilst that seems entirely logical in these times it seems strange that of all automotive products one of the more likely to regularly contain dogs doesn't facilitate making the dog and the car secure without the alarm going off all the time?

Has anyone else found this problem and is there a solution?

Hi
According to IGUIDE:
Never leave children or animals unattended in the vehicle.
Thank you.

JR67,

Look in the iguide under “Alarm Sensors”.

By using the touch screen, you can disable the internal alarm sensors “for one cycle”.

That will probably suit your needs.

(It also tells you how to get the vehicle to prompt you to do this!)

Did this myself the other day. Dog in the boot and I wanted to leave the roof open for ventilation.
Searched for a minute as I expected to find it in the main screen but eventually discovered it in the cluster menus. Once-only so has to be set each time but did the trick. 2021 L494 D300MHEV Autobiography

Scrumps and 41jules1967 very many thanks for your help. I shall have a look at this later. Probably a good thing that I have to do it every time tbh.
