SDV6 Whine - Help on where to check and what to look at.

Hi,

Ive got a 2014 SVD6 that has a whine when driving, it gets louder the quicker you go, when you let off the accelerator it dissaperars for a few seconds and then appears and get quieter until you stop. If i apply the accelerator the noise comes back again. Sounds like the noise is either from the front left or middle of the car.

So far my research has led to either front diff or transfer box, but wanted to get peoples opinions and possible other things to test.

Any help on testing things to find out what is causing this noise is much appreciated, i may be getting paranoid but im sure the noise is getting louder each day!

Thanks

Could be a wheel hub? Had any work done on brakes or anything lately?

You could with it off the floor and spinning the wheel to check if its anything wheel/tyre/hub/brake related.

Thanks, had it in the garage as I thought it sounded like a wheel bearing but nothing was found.

Will try to get it on axel stands and see what I can find.

Thanks

Hi I had a similar issue over the last few months thought it was wheel bearing on drivers side but there was no play at all and no noise going around corners at low speed. The noise was only present over 55 mph I replaced the wheel bearing and it’s gone when I checked the bearing that came off you could feel a rough spot in its rotation. Thumbs Up
