Jumped ship to RRS.

Good afternoon everyone,
I trust I find you all well, my responsible adult is going to pick up a 2013 RRS HSE Black edition 113k. It has 13 stamps in the service book, 12 months MOT with no advisories, and has had no advisories the past few years. It was last serviced July 2024 8k ago, timing belt water pump ect done in 2021@72k.
We're not new to RR having owned a 2007 L322 vogue se. It's dues its MOT next month and I get the feeling it will need some work hence looking for a newer vehicle.
We go to pick it up on Monday and was wondering what the collective hive would suggest to have a look out for, I shall be taking my Autel MK808 along to see if anything comes up.

On a separate note if I scrap the RR are there any parts I should scavenge off it before hand, it's had a new air suspension pump, new air tank, I've previously replaced the front suspension a few years ago.

Anyways looking forward to your replies and reading up on the RRS and it's fobules and possibly posting questions

Regards
Tiprat.

Usual advice: check that everything works several times. Expect that the suspension air compressor is tired unless there is evidence of a recent replacement.

Look underneath for the usual fluid leaks. If it has hydraulic anti roll bars fitted (dynamic response) ensure there are no leaks from the anti roll bar units. Factor a grand at least if they are leaking. Front one is trickier to check than the rear one.

Has the gearbox oil been changed? If not, factor that in. Book says 150k miles, but, yeah, that's Censored . Likewise, check the history for diff and transfer box oil changes.

Belts done is a good sign - someone is paying attention although that's a 7 year or 115k miles item so a bit late but at least it's been done.

Check suspension bushes. Walking pace and a hard tap on the brakes. Any thud suggests the lower front arm bushes are shot. Check the transfer box changes to low range and back again without complaint. It makes a slight noise but shouldn't be noticeable. Put in to low range and select rock crawl to check that the diff locks - you can see it on the 4x4 info screen.

And then check everything works several times again.

Check the EPB (hand brake) works swiftly and with little noise. A squeal suggests adjustment needed (or, at worst, stuff needs replacing). When sat in the driver's seat and doors/windows shut, you shouldn't really notice a noise when the EPB is selected/deselected.

Be worth checking the battery voltage when stopped and when running. Make sure it's charging ok. If tow electrics are fitted, check the resting battery voltage through the tow plug whilst the car is asleep. You want high 12V. Low 12V (or even very high 11V) suggests either tired battery, short drives (bad for these cars) or tired alternator.

Check everything works again.

Pretty much all of the stuff you can push a switch for makes a bit of noise. But it shouldn't be a "wtf?" noise. Any squeals or big noises are generally bad. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Take a look at these, that's what I did before I parted with my cash for mine.

I still had/have a few issues, so I'd recommend you get someone that REALLY knows these cars to give it once over for you.

Good luck, they're fantastic cars when you're not having to get them fixed. Big Cry

Thank you for that, I've watched the videos, I know about Bodsie and the oil changes to the gearbox and difs, on the L322 I did them myself, at present I'm unsure if il do it myself again or contact Bodsie.
Are there any parts that are interchangeable from the L322 to the RRS.
Obviously the service kits are different so there's nothing there.
There gearbox oil is different because its an 8speed, over 6speed.
Not sure if the difs oils are different?
And brakes, as I have new spare discs and pads.

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help with any of those questions. Sad

My last Range Rover was a 1995 Vogue SE and I've only had Discos & Defenders since.

This is my first RRS.
