Brake Pads & Discs Worn

Just dropped 2022 SVR off to dealership after carbon bonnet suffered the dreaded lacquer peel
While it was in they did a routine check round and came back to say that front discs and pads were 90% worn and back pads and discs 50% worn
Car was in for MOT in February and not a single advisory and has only done 1800 miles since then
Can’t believe pads and discs have suffered this much wear in only three months and with so little driving - all local and no motorway or hard braking etc
Is dealership on the money grab? I’m waiting for them to call back and explain

Well pop across on the ferry to Advanced Factors and buy some new ones yourself.. easy easy job and you’ll save hundreds!
Did the same recently and saved an absolute fortune! Do they have a noticeable lip on the discs?

Standard LR dealership scam, frankly. Ask them to show you the new items against the fitted items on the car and see what it looks like.

You could fit new brakes to a car and take it in to LR dealerships and they'd tell you it needs doing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thinking about it more I have a 2020 SVR and I have only just replaced the rear discs for the first time at 72,000 miles…

Front ones I have never replaced and I bought the car with 36k on it… so my front ones have done at least another 36k…

There was a story a years ago on a (German car) forum about a guy who did a track day on the Saturday (I was also there so can vouch for that) where he ragged it knowing the brakes were pretty much end of life.

On the Sunday he changed all 4 discs and pads in readiness for the service it was booked in for at the end of that week. He was not impressed to be informed by the main dealer his new discs and pads were severely worn and should be replaced. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

Just replaced all 4 discs and pads, plenty wear left but after two years of MOT advisories, I thought that it would be third time unlucky. Have done about 40k in 5 years ownership and the pads and discs weren't new then.
Should be a relatively easy job but...

Wheel nuts. Had caps which meant they had swollen with rust underneath and needed the socket to be hammered on to undo
Hard to remove the pad wear clips without breaking the plastic.
Not easy to clean off the rusty scale from the old discs that had adhered to the hubs.
Seriously tight disc retaining screws. Thought the torx bit was going to snap.
Hard to refit the parking brake plug, very tight to engage the retaining clip.

All the above maybe just due to the length of time between changes, but nowhere near a quick job as the videos might suggest.
However got all the bits from Autodoc and saved hundreds over someone else doing it. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014
