Low mileage service interval

RRS P460e -
Came off the prod line May/June 2024
I bought new Sept 2024 - on a 74 plate.
Car (speedo) have done just over 6000 miles
Service indicator has come on.
In Control app says I have another 4000 + mile till service due

I have kept records of my travels - EV vs Petrol.
I have done approx 2000 mile petrol (mainly motorway), & 4000 electric (local short run)

Have spoken to my suppling dealer - yes it needs an oil service as the oil is year old.
When questioned they have told me the it does not matter what mileage you have done (in petrol mode) the oil breaks down over a year of time.

Wow - that must be some cheap crap oil !!!!

Have been told my mileage service interval should be 10,000 miles - or a year.
Odd as my Defender p400 (no e) had a service interval of 20,000 miles.

Am guessing they used better oil in that model?

Am disappointed as some years back I had issues with a disco 4 & disco 5 with oil issues - all was supposed to be diesel related - but the issues seems to still exist with petrol.

Hi,

You’re not alone.

A limited range of VIN numbers of 24MY L461’s are on 10,500 / 12m servicing (whichever comes first).

Vehicles before and after are on 21,000/24M servicing, the same as other recent LR products.

Why?….not even my dealer can find out!

My Oct 23 (24MY) D300 is one of them!!

I wouldn’t have minded if they had just added an interim oil change but they have shunted up the entire service schedule - like you, I’m wondering why my brake fluid only lasts 2yr when the same stuff in my wife’s D250 Defender lasts 4yrs (for example).

Mine was in for 1 year service yesterday and I asked about this, the technicians had no idea the reason why my24 is different schedule and only reason they gave is it was just set by JLR hq.

Hi,

Apparently it’s not ALL 24MY, just a range of VIN/Chassis numbers.

My VISTA build sheet from the factory specifies 12m servicing!!!
