Dash Cluster Keeps Failing

So my dash cluster keep failing - powering down, no lights, no speedo, no indicators.
It only does this every now and then, but enough that I'm looking into dash repairs.
The cost is £140 so not he end of the world

Can I use a temporary dash while I send mine off for repair?
Will this screw up my save millage?

Looking around the world wide web, I see that a faulty dash can have knock on effects.
My code reader is showing faults with BCM, VDCM and a few other.
I also loose my cruise control and radar after about an hour of usage.

Could these be related?

If I remember right if the replacement dash cluster you use has a higher milage recorded than the original it will record the higher milage in the memory and will not revert back to the lower milage when the original is refitted as it is recorded in the cluster memory and I think it's the bcm ecu. module as well.

Cheers
