England 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Thanks guys.

Yes, I get the odd audio hole, but as the phone's data signal is pretty crap here on the island, I've put it down to that. It only lasts a few seconds and if I end up parked in a hole, I change to on board music as opposed to Amazon Music. I don't think it's any worse than the other unit was . . .

Accidentally!!! Rolling with laughter

That'll make a massive difference. Nice upgrade, I did look at that for mine...

Still at least you already know how it all comes apart... Should have it fitted within the hour Wink

I don't know about an hour. From the videos I've seen it'll probably take a full day. Big Cry

I had some discount points to use up and they offered an extra £30.00 discount too, so it only came in at a little over £150.00. I figured at that price, it was worth a go.

The CD/DVD unit doesn't work on mine anyway, so I'll see if I can fix that when it's out and if I can, it will go in the 'original parts box' in case I ever need to reverse any of this at a later date. I've not used discs for years anyway . . .

Just in case anyone's waiting to see how I get on with this, I've just cancelled it.

I've been waiting for a shipping update, but nothing was forthcoming. A quick check showed that the seller was not going to ship for another three weeks.

Needless to say, I told them to forget it and got a refund. Censored

good job you cancelled it as it the wrong model even though they say its for 2011 onwards, that model is for the newer sports.

you need one like this and check which system you have.

Thanks, but I'd ordered the right one. I don't know why that link showed the different model? Rolling Eyes

I forgot I had a memory stick in the USB port in the centre armrest.

popped it out and low and behold sound from Car play. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

So Happy Days, fully working.

As is are all of the steering wheel controls, volume and skip track...

Any questions please ask....

CJS

Hey CJS,

Can you please confirm if you're pushing your audio through BT or AUX via CarPlay to have your steering controls work as expected? And is the audio quality any poor than before?

And finally does you reverse camera kick in automatically or do you have to manually select it when reversing?

I am reading so many conflicting posts about these systems so trying to ascertain certain things before I pull the trigger and spend time installing it.

Thank you,
RK

Hi RK

I'm using blue tooth to the unit, not the Aux jack port, however the factory head unit need to be set to aux to get phone sound.

Downside to that is you lose radio when using phone or Waze for example. I stream radio and use RAYO app so all good for me.

I actually find the streamed radio quality better than the standard DAB.

Hope that helps

CJS

Chaps I have a question...

I'm having a random problem with my Android auto. (CarABC from Aliexpress RRS 2016)
It keeps disconnecting and going back to the menu screen and then reconnecting, I'm guessing from the Bluetooth. It will work just fine for ages then it'll have a moment and then it'll go back to where it was and all is fine again.

Has anyone had anything similar or any clues how I can get it to settle down?

My other thought was could I use the USB cable that they tell you to tuck into the glove box and use it wired instead of Bluetooth, again any thoughts?

Thank Golan...

Have you tried disabling the return to Home Screen setting in the original head unit settings? I don’t have any such problems and the system as been working flawlessly for reference.

My bad, I should have said that it's the Android auto home screen not the cars home screen...

But I did have that same problem when I first installed the system and a quick look around the web and I worked out how to fix it.

Thanks for the effort though it's much appreciated.

Golan...

Mine occasionally won't connect.

I've tried everything to fix it, but the only thing that works is turning off the ignition and starting again.

The other irritating thing it does, is occasionally start playing music, even though I've got the autoplay options all disabled. Censored

Other than this irritation, I'm more than happy with it for the price. Cool
