White Smoke on Start Up, Blue/Black under load

Hi All,
Got my 2010 L320 TdV8 serviced two weeks ago.
Since then it is showing White Smoke, most of the time, but not every time on Start up and Blue/Black smoke when under load.
The pessimist in me is thinking the worst and that I am looking at new Turbos.

The EGR was replaced around 2 a half years ago I was told it looked like the other was a new one so didn’t need doing.

I do have the Low Coolant warning as a result of the float sinking but I am not seeing any drop in level.

The Oil pressure light comes on intermittently but oil levels are fine, oil is black which was a surprise after it had been changed, but it had been in there a while. The servicing garage were only able to put 8 litres in. The levels aren’t dropping and I’m checking every day.

Too intercooler pipes were changed for Britpart silicone 3 years ago, I will check them again.

There is a fault code P132B-22, but that or -21 have been intermittent since I got the car.

I have bought an Archoil treatment to put through as I am meant by I be going to Windsor at the weekend, may need to take my Mini if I get it back from a new clutch and gearbox.

I am resigned that I may need to take it in to be looked at, but having to pay for a clutch and gearbox for the mini means that will need to wait until next month.

Any tips, pointers advice is welcome. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.

P132b is a sticking turbo actuator,, lubricate and work them manually to free them off,,,, may help with your smoking issue. I would have suspected EGR valves as had the same issue with mine but you say they were changed..I thought an oil change was 9.5 ltrs so strange only 8 was put in,, and oilpressure light on. Was a good quality filter used,,, not good practice to cut corners with oil etc,,,, or leave it too long between changes or your turbo's will be complaining. Mine gets changed every 3-5k. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Thanks Gogey,
I wondered if the garage might have used a syphon, rather than drained by he oil, which could explain why they could only get 8l in and why the oil is black already if it has just been changed. I’ll ask the garage when I next speak to them.
Looking at the invoice they charged me £21.20 for the oil filter and it is supposed to be OEM.

The oil is the correct Spec, he gave me the remaining 2 litres. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.

The TDV8 has two drain points as there is a separate sump for the turbo drain system. Both should be dealt with during an oil change. Like as not, this wasn't done if they did a tube drain. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

There’s a vacuum line down by the oil filter housing area that can come off when removing the oil filter housing. It can cause various issues. Might be worth checking if it’s on securely. It’s rather hidden by the intake so may not be noticeable if it gets pulled off. You obviously need to remove the engine cover then look between the front of the oil filter housing and air intake. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

£21 for oil and filter ?? the cheapest filter you can get on e bay is about £8 and oil £20-30 for 5 litres . so what did they put in ? Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

£21.20 was for the filter, looking at LR Spares they are around £10, so a 100% mark up on the parts, which seems in line with other work I have had done.
Oil was £118.44, on Amazon is £75.

The oil they used is this one, which meets the spec for the engine.

I suspect there be better oils available and I will look at getting a change earlier than the mileage requirements, if only because she is doing less than 6k a year. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.

Who is doing the servicing? A LR dealership, an independent LR specialist, or a general garage?

Finding a decent specialist who knows the foibles of the vehicles really helps - LR do design some odd things in to their cars at times. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It was a general garage that did the service, but I’ll be taking it to the local Indy to investigate what could be wrong with it now, but that will have to wait until after payday.
Having to get two cars serviced at the same time, meant I went with the cheapest option.
Interesting about the second drain plug, none of the videos I watched mentioned that, only that drain plug is better than syphon and that syphon is better than not doing it at all. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.

Two plugs:

Thumbs Up

Oil and filter change requires 9.5L of oil according to the manual. The difference between Min and Max on the dipstick is 2.7L. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thank you, the videos only showed the plug on the right, as they talked about having a shield up to stop the oil going sideways. 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey.
