Fuel Price Difference - Cheaper To Run A Supercharged?

Diesel is about 30ppl more expensive than petrol at the moment.

Is that enough to make it more economical to run a petrol RRS?

I am running a supercharged, it runs fine on E10 petrol , the big advantage for me is not having a DPF that clogs up on short journeys, and it goes and sounds awesome. 😂

I have had my my 5.0L S/C for ten years and I would say work on the overall average of about 15mpg. 78k and apart from air filters and oil changes etc. only things the engine has had done is a set of spark plugs, s/c and accessory belts at 7 year service.

2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Fuji White

.30 PPL is roughly £26 more on an empty tank.

My 3.0 TDV6 is averaging about 28 MPG mixed driving. That’s about 500 miles on a full tank. If we take Col’s as the norm MPG that’s about 285 miles on a full tank. You then can plug in the tank size, cost to fill and divide that by the miles per tank and get the cost per mile of each.

So on mine, 500 miles/tank, 84 liter tank, £125 to fill it from totally empty (local prices converted) that’s 25 pence per mile in fuel.

Col’s would be 285 miles/tank, 88 liter tank, £105 to fill from totally empty (local prices converted) that’s 37 pence per mile in fuel.

So just from a fuel standpoint, at the moment diesel is still less.

You would need petrol to get to around £55 less per tank than diesel just to be even. Basically over 64ppl for petrol to become more economical.

That’s of course based on a 5.0SC and 3.0TDV6 both with the 6HP28 transmission. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Probably. I managed to get an indicated 18.6mpg from my 2012 SDV6 3.0D the other day. Some "spirited" cross country driving was involved 😁👍

I started running it on premium when I first brought it, I then tried E10 , to be perfectly honest I have seen no difference at all other than it’s cheaper to fill up
