We had a similar issue today when driving from Albury to Sydney, a pleasant 600km run.
We could not figure out where the noise was coming from..it sounded like it was under the dash, in the glovebox or even in the sunroof.
I finally pulled over to make sure nothing was falling off and found the top black plastic strip along the top of the windscreen was partially out of the channel and I couldn’t see any way for it to lock in..
Lucky I always have 100mph tape in the toolkit and I carefully pushed it in as far as possible and then put a full strip across the top of the screen and roof edge..
That has it sorted for now but how is the strip held in place?
If it is clips can they be purchased?

No clips, just a strip of 3M double-sided adhesive tape which sticks it to the top edge of the windscreen. Might just need a silicone rubber to glass adhesive and bond it back in place.
