Urgent: One wiper not working!

Hi all,

I've just spent ages trying to find a topic on here to help me, but can't.

My driver side wiper's not working. The passenger side is fine. It slides up manually when I do it by hand, but not when I try in the normal way.

Does anyone know what it could be? I guess the motor is one obvious option but I don't know how many motors these cars have and whether there's a common issue with the blades 'coming off' the rotor.

I'm going to pop into my local mechanic later today and would love to be armed with some info (ie usual fixes, approximate costs, etc) from you guys.

Edit: RRS TDV6 2011. Battery replaced last week.....ps I live in Spain where it rarely rains, but did today and will tomorrow too!

Thank you so much in advance.....

Linkage broken I expect.

Probably best to buy a second hand motor and linkage

Thanks for the quick reply, Andy......

What exactly is the linkage please?

Also, don't you think it's possible that it's just slipped off the part that the arm connects to?

Thanks Barrie. That was really helpful.

Do you know if it's that easy to get to the mechanical motor part (that they showed was worn in that video) on a 2011 RRS please?

Sorry Nick. I don't know. I recall this from when a mate had the same problem. I can do some things myself but relatively speaking I do not have the expertise and knowledge of some people here. Barrie.

If it’s has slipped off once, it’s probably going to slip off again.

To get to it, you have to remove the wiper arms (which can be a pig of a job on these) and then remove the plastic trim

Thanks both.

I'll probably have to order a new motor and linkage then? Second hand parts for a 2011 RRS aren't easy to find here in Spain.....

I take it you have checked that the linkage is broken and not something simple like the arm slipping on the shaft spindle due to loose retaining nut or worn taper in the arm, only a thought and costs nothing to check. I would think twice about buying genuine L/R parts if it can be avoided as you are looking at nearly 300 euros for the motor and 200 for the linkage, does not come as a complete assembly. If it's any help to locate the parts the L/R part numbers are Motor LR075581 and Linkage LR038348 assuming the car is L/H/D

Cheers
Col

If new parts you would only want linkage

I’ll plus one the wiper arms being a pig to get off. You can get a wiper arm puller from Amazon for little cash. Once off, the scuttle panel is quite easy to get off which will allow you access. You don’t need a motor, just the linkage.

I’d spray/ wd40 where the wiper arm nut is now if I were you. Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Thanks all.

I had a look under the bonnet but there's some water-proofing type of trim that's covering the mechanical system and I'll only break it if I try to remove it.

I'll take the car into my local mechanic tomorrow and suggest that they check the bolt and spindle's looseness before trying to replace any parts unnecessarily.

I really appreciate all your help..........

Update: Linkage was the problem, apparently, and a new one has been ordered (eventually!). Luckily it doesn't rain often in Spain Smile

€80 + labour seems like a cheap fix, if I'm honest....so thanks all for your amazing help and advice.
