SVR Noise In Comfort

Hi guys,

Planning on starting the hunt for an SVR around July time. Most likely be a 2018 or 2019.
I appreciate you don’t buy an SVR for a quiet under the radar car but the wife will also be driving it and doesn’t like the pops and bangs. If you drive the MY18 onwards cars in comfort is it reasonably tame and won’t do pops and bangs or is that still possible?

I’ve heard a few in traffic that sound lovely burbling along but one went past us the other day that sounded like a NASCAR Laughing
The wife just gave me a look and said I hope it doesn’t sound like that all the time. Difficult as you never know who’s had the centre silencer swapped out for an x pipe or other mods do you.

She’s sold on the looks and performance but wondering if the noise will be too much. I will of course test drive nearer the time but thought I’d ask.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I find ours is very civilised to drive and burbles along nicely. But stick it in sport/dynamic and push the loud pedal,it will pop and bang. My wife drives it and I haven’t had any complaints !!! She even commented on how good it sounded when I dropped her off in town. Hope this helps.

If you drive it in comfort with the exhaust valve 'off' then it is fairly tame - not as tame as a regular V8 SC. 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

My wife was the same....Just driving it in "Auto terrain response" removes a fair chunk of the more aggressive sounds. Its only really in dynamic that you get the pops / crackles, unless you absolutely boot it and come off suddenly at about 3-4k revs. Now
