TCCM Module from 2.7 Diesel Into 4.4 Petrol?

Hi Guys,

My dash has decided to light up like a Chrsitmas tree with the low range light flashing on the dash, HDC mode not available, etc, etc. I tried the usual suspects - battery is fine, swapped out the brake light switch, changed the bulbs for OEM, but its still there. My code reader turns no codes, but my local independent specialist's reader came back saying that it cant connect to the transfer case control module. I just took the module out hoping to see it was corroded or something, but it looks mint. However, it seems this is still the best place to start. Other than the lights and having to shift manually, the car drives perfectly.

Only problem is that I have a 4.4 v8 petrol, and cannot for the life of me find a TCCM for this model. I can find a tonne on ebay for about £70 from the 2.7 Diesel and even one from the 4.2 Supercharged..... question is, would they work on the petrol 4.4? (the part numbers are identical).

I have read various things online about them needing to be coded to the vehicle, some people say they dont. Im assuming that if I plug in one from a 2.7 diesel it will try to shift at different points, and therefore needs recoding to the 4.4 shift points.... if so, any idea how much it costs to get it recoded at Land Rover or an indy?

Any help appreciated.

According to L/R parts list it is the same module for all engines with 6 speed box, for the Sport, Disco 3, Disco 4 and Fullfat from 2005 through to 2013. NNW506850> NNW508480> NNW506850 personally I wouldn't even bother with £70.00 fleabay s/h crap for the sake of around £110.00 quid new,

No mention of it having to be coded to a particular Vehicle/Vin No. etc. However it does say it need's to be calibrated, would imagine it would be sensible to do the same with a s/hand one as well to make sure you get the correct synchronisation/time shifts etc, otherwise it's just another typical cheap repair job.

Cheers
