Hello fellow RRS drivers,

Driving a L494 SDV6 Hybrid (122K km/76K miles)
Does anyone have experience with a kind of rattling noise coming from the engine. Especially noticeable on cold start and idle.
When driving and when the car is on running temp. it is hardly to not noticeable anymore.

On a cold winter morning when I start the engine and the engine is running less smooth the first seconds (diesel..) then you can hear it very well. Any ideas.., experience on what its causing this?

A few weeks ago I let the dealer look at it when it was there to get the timing belt replaced. They could not pin point what was causing the sound but mentioned it was less now after timing belt replacement. It was indeed less but now it is getting worse again. I have not much faith in the JLR dealers but due to warranty conditions I had to let the timing belt being replaced by JLR.

In 2 weeks I have an appointment with an independent LR specialist for a winter check and will ask his view on this. But if any of you have an idea this would be great.

Alternator or Drive belt tensioner, are a couple of possible causes , mines turned out to be the alternator
