Locking wheel nut

Managed to lose the key for mine somehow, went to Stratstone in Cardiff to find the one I want and not a single one fitted, as its a 50 mile round trip to the other nearest dealer what's the easiest way to get it off?
Is it the same as the normal wheel bolts where the 21mm head is clamped on top of a 19mm?, I got a few off by destroying the top cap and fitting a 19mm socket. I've foot replacements to fit so it doesn't matter if it's destroyed

The first thing I did when I got mine was to bin the locking nuts, as I suspect you're doing. I would try ringing a few local tyre fitters, it may be they have experienced this and may have a way to get them off.
Did the stealers tell you which one you wanted? You may be able to find one on fleabay.

Hi,

how many did you try Question from memory its 26 (the alphabet) would have expected the dealer to have a full set, as many dealers Dont use customer locking keys they use their own, that way they can never be blamed for losing the customers key Whistle

try a local indep one near me has a "special" key that fits many to remove them (no its not a big hammer Laughing )

or try a local selling dealer to borrow the ones in any cars they have for sale just to find which letter code you need.
and mark off which letters you have tried to narrow it down.

I managed to lose mine when I forgot to take it off the wheel one day before I drove off. Embarassed

Fortunately for me I subsequently found the "Security Information" card in with all the handbooks etc in the glovebox. Listed on the card should be the Bluetooth pairing code and the Locking wheelnut letter (A,B,C,D etc). Many ebay sellers have genuine wheel nut key replacements at a better price than LR dealers.

P.s. a tip - if you're lucky enough to find the card and key code, take a photo of it. Sods law says that the card will go awol next time the nut gets lost! 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......
2005 Cayenne S - handling defied physics and what a sound, so sod the mpg!
1995 Disco TDI- surprisingly reliable, shame about the peeling dash & other trim
Lots of other non 4X4's in between times.........

There are twenty different keys as they don't use I,O,Z and a couple of others if i remember right, the other thing is which doesn't help in the slightest unless you can get one nut off in some way, is the letter is actually stamped on the locking nut itself, unfortunately you have to remove the nut to read it as its stamped on the flat washer part that sits against the wheel rim Very Happy

Cheers

When you can, remove them all, throw in bin and fit normal nuts all round.
You'll thank me when you need to change a tyre on the side of the M4 etc Thumbs Up Bow down Visitor from fullfatrr.com
