Tight tolerance mode Staffordshire

I need my wheels aligning after having the steering arm replaced and will be fitting new tyres at the same time. Also need the steering wheel re-centred. Have been ringing around tyre places and none seem to know what tight tolerance mode is, which doesn't instil a lot of faith. Can anybody recommend somewhere near Stafford? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Many of the Hunter operators don't have the dongle to enter in to tight mode, sadly. It's a big cost for a relatively small number of potential customers. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You don't need to plug anything into the vehicle to enter TTM on the newer models.

Activation:
1. Gearbox in Park
2. Start the engine
3. Suspension in normal height
4. Open the driver's door
5. Press the brake pedal 3 times
6. Close the driver's door within 10 seconds of the first brake pedal press

If successful, the instrument cluster will emit two soft chimes after the driver's door is closed, to indicate the air suspension system is in TTM.

Deactivation:
Turn the engine off or drive the vehicle over 5 mph

The above may help if you chose to go somewhere that doesn't know about getting the vehicle into TTM. Once it's in TTM, it's just the same as aligning any other vehicle. The recommendation would always be to use an experienced operator with good quality (eg. Hunter) equipment, however. Kev

When you say 'newer models' mines one of the first L494, does it apply? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Thanks for all the advice and replies.
Given that wheel alignment is not exactly an unusual activity, why is the information above not in the manual to pass on to whoever is doing the job?
After all, these vehicles are hardly ten a penny.

Or being cynical, is it a way of nudging you towards a dealer? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

Good point. It will be in the service manual but not the user manual/handbook. Probably because it's not a 'user function' I would imagine.

We're all allowed to be a bit cynical though Wink Kev
