Rear Arb bushes with ace

Hi all,
Read conflicting comments. Is it possible to change rear ARB bushes on a car with ACE without special tools?

By on a car with ACE I assume you mean a Range Rover Sport.
If you fill in your car's profile it may be helpful to members who have done/had it done.
Mine is a MY10 and I had mine done a few months ago. The indi I used was going to change them as it was knocking, but when I went to pick it up he said he'd just done the drop links and that the ARB nuts were very rusty. I went to another LR specialist and he reported that they were a real sod of a job and he ended up using induction heating to free off the fixings. By all accounts if you round them off. it's a body off job to resolve. Interestingly he did say that someone (previous indi) had had a go, started to round them off, which didn't make his job easier, and obviously stopped. At least the previous chap knew his limitations, but he could have told me that's what he'd done.
Of course, if yours is newer/L494 it may be easier, just be aware of the above.

Sounds like it's a job for the indie to do if there's a risk of the bolts being seized.

Mine originated from Scotlandshire where the roads are permanently covered in road salt so its a bit rusty under there. You may be lucky and everything comes undone at the sight of a spanner Very Happy

I've never had that much luck! LR specialist has just quoted £332. Seems a lot but I guess if it's a nasty job, that explains it.

A lot of people have had poly bushes fitted to the roll bars when they've had them changed, seems to offer a bit of insurance against having to revisit them later on again, I think this is something I'll be doing in the near future.

I think £332 is a bit OTT, the poly-bushes (much longer lasting than gen LR rubber) are less than £20 each from memory (just checked; £28 for both before VAT). Sounds a lot of labour, I had a few other jobs done at the same time (rear struts, both front wheel bearings) and although each item wasn't broken down labour wise, the total labour was just over £400. As I mentioned, a lot of the fittings took longer than normal due to corrosion.

Rears are a doddle to do. No special tools needed and access is simple compared with the fronts. I did mine last year. Mine is a 2010 TDV8 with Dynamic Response (ACE in old money Very Happy )

I soaked the bolts in WD40 before attempting to remove (I'm in Scotland so always wise!) and they came out with no problems. I might have some photos I took at the time somewhere and I'll post if I can find them.

Took me about 30 mins. Total cost - less than £50 all in, genuine bushes and new bolts.

Thanks, Seatown. I must admit, I did think the labour was a bit strong having thought about it. I reckon they're quoting about 3 hours work which seems a lot. The cars been down south all its life so I don't have too much corrosion underneath. Maybe I'll take a look but stop short of doing too much if it looks like the bolts aren't going to budge.

What do people recommend for poly bushes?
