I can attest to the gearbox problem....on my previous RRS my Ghost was wired this way....unfortunately due to the nuances of the RRS it has an intelligent system which appears to record spurious canbus signals and try and subsequently isolate them.
My car worked perfectly for about a year without issue then whilst crawling in traffic coming out of the supermarket it kept throwing the car in park..... not helpful....

JLR diagnosed the gearbox lock pin was being fired out...they requested the Ghost be disabled which was done and relieved the problem. Ghost were excellent and came out and rewired the system to utilise different systems.

The later Version of Ghost has been updated and their fitters wire things differently.... their support has been outstanding!

Personally the loss of remote start is hardly a third world problem compared to coming out in the morning and finding your car long gone...

Any reply from autowatch?
I am in the process of researching an installation of the ghost II into a RRS 2020 but don’t want to loose the ability to remote start via the inControl app. I have emailed autowatch as I have received conflicting advice from installers. Some say it is not possible/not advised to do a gearbox lock to retain remote start facility. Others say it is possible but could potentially be overridden by thieves once in vehicle. I really hope a ghost gearbox lock is possible without any issues being caused to the gearbox or causing warranty issues with JLR.

Trying get mine fitted tomorrow. The guy who does hundreds of RRS said he does them all on the gear box, has an SVR him self. Said he never had an issue yet. Not sure how they could get around it, it makes car think the door is open so keeps it in park. Not sure if you could override this??? 2018 SVR

Had Ghost2 fitted to my hybrid sport in March a week or so after receiving the car. The remote start does not work with the petrol engine but does work with the electric motor (was told it wouldn't work at all). Certainly set my mind at ease with the increase in theft. My only concern is taking in for service as I believe there's a code to disarm but only for 15mins so guess if have to change the code before taking in and explain to them but hopefully that's some time away!

MaximusDM read the instructions & it tells you how to put ghost into valet mode when you take for service ect. Andy.

Yes, I have used service mode recently.

Just practice at home first and not for first time sat in dealer's forecourt as I did with the wrong disarm code written down but luckily managed to work it eventually!

The 15mins refers to being driven for longer than 15 mins or above 35 mph after which you will then have to input the disarm code.
