Several faults - earthing issue?

Hi All

The car has recently started generating a number of faults, including bonnet open (it's not), coolant level low (it's not), park brake fault (working fine), adaptive cruise, IEB and forward alert not available (working intermittently). On top of this the left hand headlamp assembly as been working intermittently, with the DRL flickering. The last couple of runs the complete headlamp is out including indicator, DRL dip/main beam. Another strange thing is the ECO stop/start sometimes doesn't start the engine once stopped and I have to press ignition switch to start her up again.

These issues had started to appear intermittently and I assumed new battery required, but fitting new battery hasn't cured the issues.

Having read through other posts, I'm now thinking this could be a bad earth causing these issues.

I've removed the front left hand wheel arch trim and had a look for earth wires there. There were a couple of thin diameter black wires attached to a circular connector which was bolted to the inner arch, but these looked in good condition, with no visible corrosion. Are these the earth wires for the circuits effected? Are there others I should be inspecting and where are their locations?

Hopefully someone can shed some light (pun intended!) on this issue.

Thanks in advance

It would be helpful if you completed your profile so that we know the car details (age, fuel, etc.)

Certainly on older models a classic fix is to renew the brake light switch and ensure you have quality brake light bulbs as this can throw up all sorts of wobblies. But letting us know what you are driving will help. Robin

Thanks for the responses guys.

I had the wheel arch liner off on the front left side but couldn't see an earth strap there. What am I looking for and what is the exact location of this? Does the strap attach directly to the headlamp? Anyone have photos?

Thanks Leigh
