Hi. I have genuine Range Rover side steps and it does not matter what I try I cannot get the staining off them. I’ve tried brassi, car polish. Alloy wheel cleaner. Any suggestions please.

G3 Rubbing Compound works quite well but on the l494 the alu is more of a brushed effect when compared to the steps on the L320.

Best solution would be to get some 1000 grit wet and dry and work them for a bit with that and then get some of these

I used them to finish the stainless in a new style sink that someone left an old cutlery basket in and it rusted a little bit so used these to remove the rust stains and it worked a treat just needed to be careful to move in the same direction to avoid swirls and uneven brush marks.

The finish was almost stock look like really finely brushed.

If you did this on the edges of the steps you coudl then either polish then coat in some hard ceramic style wax or maske it up and get a rattle can of clear coat lacquer and give it a nice even dusting (best to do that in nice warm dry days prefereably in a garage so no grit or dust gets in it.
