Sim card

We have just taken delivery of a 69 plate RRS AB.

I ordered a Vodafone data only sim card to see what added benefits it would add...

I have inserted the micro sim but get the message 'Sim not supported'...

I have searched the forum for answers but am still unsure as to whether:

a. the card needs activating first?
b. a Vodafone data only sim card is suitable?

Thanks in advance.

Ali.

It may be the SIM needs activating first?

The best value SIM that I am aware of is from 3 - prepay for 24gb lasting 24 months which does not need activating.

In Melbourne (Australia), one of the major dealers recommends Vodafone (and Telstra) SIMs in their virtual RRS handover vehicle. MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

Thanks both.

I contacted Vodafone who said their data only sim cards are auto acitvated so no need to 'activate' it.

I left the sim card in the car over night, when I removed it this morning the message first read 'Sim not supported' but did change to 'reading sim' at one point....

Anything else I can try?

Ali.

Try a different SIM? How about the one from your phone?

It is also possible that the SIM holder needs replacing in your car, several have been reported faulty in the past. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Thanks, just tried this and the sim card from my phone has the same result....

I guess I'll need to contact the dealership...

Many thanks.

So it turns out the card was not auto activated! After numerous calls the card is now activated. Put it in the car last night but still no joy. Will give it 24 hours to see what happens.

Just as an aside, whilst I was messing about with the sim card I noticed that the onscreen message changed from 'Sim not supported' to 'reading sim'. Is this any indication that the card reader is working properly?

Thanks.
