If you are going to cut any cable, cut the drivers side on. Thats the easier one to replace |

When DM says very (VERY) tight to release he is understating it. It took me and my son with a strong length of wood to release mine. Me on one front seat, my lad other on the seat, a length of steel rod with a hook at the end round the release cable and then the other end round 2 foot length of 1" square timber , both lifting. It's not just the force required, its also the tight access making it difficult to do on your own. Worth trying rather than cutting cables

Have a look on you tube, I had the same on my TDV8 all I needed was a cable tie to release it the surround near the gearshift is easy to remove & the release for the handbrake is clearly visible. |

Gents very much appreciate the swift response I will try the release cable again tomorrow I maybe was slightly wary of putting too much on it

No, if you resort to cutting, just one cable will suffice

So just to update I was succesfull with the release cablešstuck a couple of karabiner on it and gave it a hefty tug and bobs your uncle a bit wary yesterday when you see the small loop I was worried about bursting it, thanks again for the help |

I think some people use the handle of the Land Rover supplied 'widow maker' jack to pull the release which seems to do the job also. Kev
