Fuel filter problem?!?

2006 Sport (diesel). On the last service the fuel filter was found to have been installed the wrong way round. Could this be the reason that around 3.500 revs the engine 'fluttered' and at times I experienced 'limb mode' at speed or when under power going up hill? I think what I am asking, if being installed the wrong way round, could it interrupt the call for more fuel at times? Andrew Kennedy

Yes it can interrupt fuel at high revs
