TPMS ISSUES

OK, this may be a long post i will try and be as brief as i can be

about 12 months ago I changed the wheels on my 63 plate Range rover sport L494

When i changed the wheels the old tpms valves would not come off the wheels so I bout a new set (not landrover branded but all tech specs the same).
They system was working perfectly but would not work after changing the valves and wheels.
I took it in for coding at National tyres still no good, I bought a tool to do it myself and i got them all coded and working when stationary by activating them with the unit, all pressures displayed and working. However after driving for 10-15 mins the fault came back and no pressures displayed. I took it to a Land rover specialist and he ended up in exactly the same place can get them all coded and working but after 15 mins the fault comes back.

A thought was the new wheels (wider than standard) could have pushed the sensors out of range from the activators in the wing, so i bought a second hand set of original wheels (wanted to return to standard anyway as the wider wheels made the handling terrible at higher speeds and i mean major wobble)

This didn't work either I'm at a loss here any and all advise appreciated.

thanks

Ed

We had this problem on a L405 Rangie and the aftermarket set could not be programmed to the car, in the end we bought 4 new Genuine valves and it worked perfectly.

Had the same problem. Bought these from eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114424392839

Genuine and a lot cheaper that LR dealer.

Took my 20" original HSE wheels off my 2014 and replaced with 21" 2019 diamond cut wheels. TPMS failed.

Bought these from ebay and all sorted Current - 2014 Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6
Gone - 2017 Audi A8 Sport
Gone - 2007 Range Rover Sport HSE TDV8 - Great car.

Be careful apparently the ones we bought were from the production line and could only be unlocked by the production line computer ! So no use...

Ours were Land Rover branded but naked when supplied, no branded packaging so different to the ones in the link in the previous post...

2013-2018 L494's need part number LR070840

This part is also used on other LR vehicles like Disco Sport etc.

Search eBay for user whatasuperdealtobehadthisweek

This is who I bought from. 4 for £48. Arrived quickly and were genuine LR parts in LR packaging. As I said above, I had these fitted and within 5 miles all the TPMS was sorted. Current - 2014 Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6
Gone - 2017 Audi A8 Sport
Gone - 2007 Range Rover Sport HSE TDV8 - Great car.

I had same problem when I swapped my 21s for 22s. I ended up taking the tpms out of the original 21s and putting them in my new 22s. Al working as they should since then

Thread drift…. Are there any speciific considerations for when replacing tyres on a TPMS-equipped RRS? Can a regular tyre shop do it or does it need to go back to LR?

A different question: I have retained the tyre “mobility” kit from my traded X5. It is basically a can of sealant goop , which is injected through the valve stem, and a small compressor. Reading between the lines, the valve stem seems to be component of the TPMS system. I take it that if I was to use that goop, in case of a flat, then I will screw the TPMS on that wheel? Any insights? MY21.5 HSE 221KW D16

Does not screw the TPMS but the tyre should not be repaired after using such a product .
