Has my alternator stopped working?

The battery warning light has illuminated on my dash. The battery is at 12v, even with the engine running.

The car is now fixed. The old alternator had got so hot it had melted all the stickers off its casing.

Forgot to say that the chap in the garage said that he’s now done a fair few of 10 to 12 year old Sports. Mine falls in this category! The older version seems to be alright.
