Approved used question

Has anyone had a situation where the dealer has paid the road tax for a used approved vehicle? Not sure if this is a dumb question or not!

Andy

No, not had the dealer pay for it. On the last two occasions when collecting the vehicle the dealer has handed me a laptop with the dvla website and got me to fill out the tax application and pay for it.

Even buying new they don’t... since the DVLA changed the system where the vel ends immediately on sale it has become the norm.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Tyrefitter,

That’s outrageous- was he thinking he was a comedian?

Everyone,

Do people think there should still be room for manoeuvre on the price of used approved at the moment? I’ve heard enough of ‘it’s already a deal’ and ‘it’s already priced to sell!’ What sort of successes have people had recently?

If I was I the market for another rrs I’m afraid I would be looking at private sale,it was ok when you got 2 years approved warranty but know you only get 1 year so I’d buy private & put a warranty on it. Andy.

Just do your research on warranty cost. I read a lot of positive thing about warranty direct but they always quote me silly money, just under £3k for my 2016 sport.
Land Rover comes in at £1k so I’m renewing with them.
I had warranty direct years ago on a golf and it had a costly new gearbox, maybe I’m blacklisted now...

I disagree... what you need to do is highlight to the dealer the number of similar vehicles for sale with a similar spec to the one you are looking at...show him those and see what he can do...

There are other ways they can discount the price if not on the windscreen price...they can offer a lower apr or better terms on finance... better p/x pricing, free servicing plans, additional extras etc ...

With this lockdown dealers are going to want to clear stock to release cash for the business...

Also don’t discount great prices or finance deals on a new vehicle as the factory will be desperate for orders....

Be polite, and good mannered and you’ll be surprised ...

I bought an SVR during the last lockdown and got a great price, a super finance package, a full service, and new tyres all round off the screen price.... still haven’t found one as good as this price wise 5 months later...

I had about a quarter tank in my £120k fatty when I picked it up, so about £20 worth, s maybe the hat is the norm! When I sold my 9 year old RRS on this forum it had a full tank as I recall. Moral of the story: buy privately from normal people. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!
