Loss of power and black smoke

Hello first post, 2012 RRS remap and deleted EGR valves with 96000 miles. Full service history and recent cambelt change.

So normal driving when engine started to sound very loud and rough then got worse and would not accelerate and slowing down. Lots of black smoke and would not accelerate. Car would start and idle but cut out when accelerated.
Garage cannot find what the issue is so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the garage a Land Rover specialist? If not, take it to one.

Have DTC codes been read? Any found?

Black smoke is often indicative of a split intercooler hose or intercooler. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes LR specialist and lots of codes some old. They can't pinpoint exactly what the issue is yet

OK updated the car will start then cut out after a few seconds. The indie garage have updated that there are no new fault codes at all. They have checked all of the obvious faults including all pipes and no issues. No metal bits in oil filter so now looking to drop exhaust to see if turbo seized. But no obvious faults as yet.

Hi is the garage a recommend indie, if not they may be trying to do a good job but at the same time not have a clue on the faults, a good local recommended indie is worth their weight in gold and the money they can save you, i can ring my local indie and as good as gold turns my money away if my symptoms are not what i think they are, and points me in the right direction.

Whilst I have not used either, both West4x4 (Waltham Chase) and Petersfield Garage Services are relatively local to you and come recommended as LR Specialists MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

Deleted EGR valves on a 2012 doesn’t sound right as the DPF needs them to function properly...alarm bell.
Keith Gott in Alton, AJ Land Rover nr Alton are other options if others are busy.

P.S if a good indie can fit you in straight away maybe not the best indie?

OK further update I am using Rovertune in Reading who do seem good and have gone through the issue with me. Which appears to be a completely blocked DPF which may be as a result of a remap I had when I got the car. I had the EGR valves blanked and deleted but without any real proof the DPF sensor may have been deleted. So resolution is new DPF and remove map and put right the EGR valves. Would it be OK to use an aftermarket DPF or am I asking for more trouble.

Rovertune are superb and know their onions for sure so listen to their advice Thumbs Up
Your car should have a DPF by law and for that to work it needs EGR valves working. Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Rather than a new DPF...why not get yours flash cleaned. Works out way cheaper and you get mobile DPF cleaning specialists too. Thumbs Up

Update
Got car back today after new DPF fitted unfortunately although the car starts and drives it has lack of power around 2000rpm and black smoke pouring out of the exhaust. Also engine sounds very loud. Rovertune want the remap and blanked EGR valves put back to stock before any further work is done. Report states turbos full of soot but spinning free. I have no idea what to do next

Did you buy it with the remapping already done or have you paid to have it carried out?
