Range Rover Sport L494 Supercharged with replaced engine

have the opportunity to buy a Chile Red 2014 Range Rover Supercharged dynamic with features such as 1200W Meridian surround system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, electric deployable towbar, surround cameras, etc. at R530000 (USD30460).

The vehicle has done 112000 kilometers (70 000 miles) but had an engine replaced at 95729kms (59830 miles) which is a bit of a concern to me.

Selling dealer is the same dealer the original owner bought it from and they have provided me with the records of the vehicle. The selling dealer also serviced and maintained the car. Services were at +-24000kms until the engine replacement and it was then serviced at 112000kms by the selling dealer after the vehicle was traded (part-x) at the same dealer.

According to the report, the engine ran rough and EML was on. Findings were the following: misfires on cylinders 5 and 8; and crank locked when turning the engine. The workshop conducted a cylinder leak test which failed and based on that a decision was taken to replace the engine.

There is an option to take a LR warranty

Should I still consider the car or should I move on; it is just that the Chile Red in South Africa is a rather rare breed and added to that the features on this vehicle make it very attractive

I'd consider it, provided they come to the party and give you a decent warranty on the engine. --

Hi Vnitos,

Mine's going well, I thought I detected a harsh shift between 5th & 6th, so I took it to ZF.

They checked everything and the technician didn't think it was a bad shift at all. He kept the car overnight, checked the oil and said we should change it, only cost R3800.

Other than that, it's seen plenty of off-roading recently without any issues, and I've had to take care of the sticky buttons.

R530K for what you describe is pretty good, I asked LR Stellenbosch for a trade-in value on mine and they said R350k Shocked

Mine will be on the market in a few months as we're emigrating Neutral --

Go for it. I've had my 2013 Chile red SC autobiography for 18 months now and it's been a brilliant buy with not a single second spent regretting my decision to get it. Not seen another the same colour up this part of the country yet- they're all grey or black round here.

Chile red looks even better in the sun (a rare thing here!) so should be perfect for South Africa

am not usually a fan of the newer body, always preferred the boxier l322/l320 but that color scheme looks damn good
