No response from accelerator

Hi everyone, could any of you help me out here? I've had my 2016 v6 RRS for a few months and I have this infernal pause when I push the accelerator when at a stop or very low revs. It's not lag, it's just nothing happens at all, then we are launched off like a rocket. It has caused several near head on collisions when turning across traffic. If I touch the accelerator at higher revs it responds immediately. I've tried putting it in sport and dyanmic and auto start off and a tuning mapping box but they have made no difference to the pause. I took it back to the place I got it from and they were happy it was normal but after getting in my wife's 2 tonne ML yesterday and it takes off immediately(albeit not that fast) I realise this can't be normal and I have seen on Google people complaining but never a solution. Any ideas?

Cheers

This is a typical complaint associated with the 3.0V6 diesel although the severity seems to vary with some saying it's hardly an issue, others like you saying it's very much an issue. My 2012 SDV6 does it too but not always and the severity of the pause is variable - which makes it damnably difficult to drive around. At junctions, I tend to manually select 1st and then hold a few revs against the brake pedal. This seems to get rid of the issue. Not always doable, of course, as it requires a complete stop to perform. I've had a couple of near misses because of the pause. It's the one thing that has prevented me "falling in love" with this RRS in the way I did with my previous TDV8.

Some say a proper remap helps - a tuning box isn't a remap.

Alive Tuning or Bell Auto Services (usually referred to as BAS) are the generally accepted go-to people for RRS remaps.

I keep thinking of an Alive remap but at 107k miles, I'm concerned it might be too late for this engine. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Hi, didn't know the box was different to a re map. Right that's a great referral, I'll give them an call. Love the look and feel but I am falling out of love with mine at the moment.

Cheers

A tuning box is a very crude attempt to boost power but it won't cure any underlying power curve anomalies.

A tuning box basically intercepts the engine ecu's instructions to the injectors and says "add some extra fuel". That might be helpful, it might not. Done incorrectly, it'll just waste fuel. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
