Well I have just come back from a trip to Promec and they were really helpful. Quite an impressive set up as well. Ian the owner really seems to know his stuff. The large yard was packed with all kinds of RR's and Land Rovers.

He checked over my suspension and all seems ok so far, no obvious leaks or fault codes from the sensors. He was very thorough and did a full diagnostic, cleared the few that were on there (nothing major) and will check again in a few weeks.

Only problem is he tested my lower arms and I do have a bit of a knock Sad

Looks like that's going to be top of my to do list. Bit pricey though and uses the original LR parts and not the uprated ones recommended on here. So I need to have a think about that one.

Other than that my Sport got the thumbs up.

If you're handy with a socket set, just fit the Meyle HD arms yourself. Then, just take it somewhere for an alignment after.

What I noticed on that video although it may not be of any significance, is they fit the front bolt through the arm the opposite way to what both the workshop manual say's and screen on the hunter alignment equipment showing the operator how to adjust the alignment. On my own vehicle the front bolts were also fitted from the rear forward, although may be fitted different way round on the Disco for some reason as I think it is a Disco in the video looking at the side vent. As I say it may not make the slightest difference, may just be simply easier to torque the nut up from the front, but personally I would refit them the way they came out if they have not been replaced before.

I’m not sure if it was 2012 or 2014 that JLR starting putting all vehicle service records online - somebody here will tell me I’m sure. So if it has MD servicing then you can read all that has been done to the car at services from the Topux website. You will need the VIN IIRC.
Rule of thumb - “Sealed for life” in 21st century Land Rover speak means “until the warranty runs out’” ie life = 3 years 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I think it was 2012 but phased in, i.e. L405, L494, L319 etc. The L320 never made it. You can manually submit servicings to topix for recording action but they screen them before adding. I tried it once and gave up as it never got auctioned. Probably an idea LR never went forward with. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Hi Kev

I would love to be able to do a bit of spanner work myself but I don't have the space or the equipment at the moment. I can tackle some basic jobs but having just watched a you tube video of a guy taking the body off a 2008 RRS and rebuild the engine, I would worry about messing stuff up.. very interesting to see under the skin of the car though.

'Frank Spencer' has a habit of turning up whenever I do DIY or mechanics if you know what I mean... Laughing Laughing Laughing Wink

and you have to see the 'Number 27' video on You Tube of the guy working on his 308 Ferrari... goes and drops it clean off the jacks and completely wrecks the sill!! Big Cry Shocked That would be me!

Well, both front bottom arms and a rear tie bar replaced by Promech last week and the car now feels amazing. It felt ok before but the new arms and link make a HUGE difference.

Promech were brilliant too. Ian is really helpful and happy to discuss your car with you, even when he is up to his eyes in other cars!

I went for the original arms in the end (ok ok throw things at me!) but those are the ones which Promech use and guarantee so I thought it was best rather than bring my own parts.

A mega flush is next on the cards when my wallet has recovered!

But first its off to BTrim to get my seat sorted. I am all booked in. Cant wait for that one. A damaged interior really Censored me off.

It's not a bad choice. The LR genuine arms are good parts and if you are not doing it yourself, it makes sense to go with what the garage will honour in terms of warranty Thumbs Up Kev
