So you think Land Rover dealers are bad........

Just dropped off SWMBOs Audi A1 at the dealer for third year service, £175 they said, not too bad so just go there.

Don’t do the brake fluid I said, we won’t turn the service light off then was the response. It’s probably easy, I just haven’t done anything with this car so ok, just do it.

SWMBO then asks them to check the tracking, remember this is a 1.4 A1.........£200 plus VAT! Think we’ll leav3 that.

Robbing Censored s, certainly won’t cross their door again for any work. Joined the X5 45e club

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

My other half took her A3 for a service @ Worthing Audi (it was a freebie), and they told her it required 2 front tyres as they were 75% worn.

When I explained that that meant there was 25% left to use, they said 'oh yes, they'll be alright for another few thousand miles'.

They must think we're all stupid.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Baltic Blue

Rang local Mercedes stealer for 1st service on an A Class that was 12 months old and done 8500 miles. £330! Checked with the lease company and they confirmed in writing that we can have it serviced at local garage provided they use genuine parts and the garage is VAT registered. Cost £220 and better customer service, etc. There is no replacement for displacement - W O Bentley

My wife drives a MB SLK with 3.5ltr V6 which we purchased 12 months old 5 years ago. At 4 years old it requires a major service £850 which includes new spark plugs etc because it has now theoretically done 48k miles. At that time it was 18k miles.

At this stage I bulk and say hold fire. We then do some research to find there is a Mercedes specialist about 3 miles away. So I contact the one 3 miles away and shocked they want £650!

Back to the internet and I find another specialist called Presige Car Sevices (Horndean - Portsmouth) about 15 miles away, with a first class reputation and are regular contributors to MB forums. Contact them £420. Deal. I leave the car with them and 6 hours later get a bill for £340 RESULT

Last year we had a sensor fault, quote to fix made us bulk, but hey ho. Took the car in for the sensor to be fixed and when told the car was ready was also told "I have no idea how I came up with price I quoted you" Oh here we go I think, how much more is this going to cost me..... Actually the price was over £100 less than quoted. RESULT

They now carry out the servicing on the SLK and more than happy with them. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)
