17MY Deployable Towbar wiring / Fuse

Hi all,

Just added a deployable towbar to my RRS and can't seem to get it working! New towbar, ECU, switch kit and wiring loom added, along with 5a fuse in cabin. Trailer test light sequence works but no life from towbar. Does anyone know if there is a fuss for the deployable towbar in the boot? I see there is a fuss for the deployable side steps in the book and wondered if it shared this as it used the same ECU module?

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Having EXACTLY the same issue. On the same model year too. There is a fuse in the boot. Top left I think from memory, but it’s already there and still nothing.

I’ve even tried a couple of modules.

The online installing instructions show having to put your foot on the foot brake and then press the start button for 5 seconds - step 50/51, also step 55 indicates that you might need to get it enabled by the dealer unless you have a IiD tool or Autologic to do it yourself

Thanks for the response.

Tried the reset procedure with brake pedal many times. Still nothing.

The instructions gave me the impression that should work from boot buttons without enabling in CCF, but not from the screen in the car.

Starting to wonder if it needs enabling to work at all though tbh.

Also, can’t enable with IID, as it changed at 2017 and needs pathfinder, and IID not capable, which is annoying as I have an IID.

Bit of an update on this.

There is a technical bulletin for 2017MY cars whereby the deployable towbar randomly stops working from the boot switch - fix is to have the dealer re-enable the deployable towbar. Boot button magically works again (and works from the screen in car too).

Had mine done FOC when car was in for a service.
