Water ingress in boot

Morning all, opened my boot this morning after the torrential rain of the last couple of days and noticed the boot "nipple" on the right hand side drips like crazy when boot is opened. Obviously there is rain water getting in somewhere. anyone else had it ? car is due a service and still under warranty

Is there water in the boot? Has it got in past the seal? Otherwise it's probably water running along the underside of the edge until it finds the boot stop. Also, any external plastic trim will catch water which then runs out when the boot is opened. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

no water in the boot at all, i'd expect some run off from the doors etc but it's not just a small drip, literally pours out for a second or two when the boot opens so it's pooling somewhere.

Booked it in

Car back from dealers yesterday, there was, as suspected, a leak through the boot trim which was pooling water in the boot door itself. Old trim removed and a new trim added.

If yours is under warranty, get it in.

Water ingress in boot lid after havy rain

Hi all, do you know which parts of the boot trim were replaced/ allowing water to ingress to occur. I have had the same problem too recently and after heavy rain for a prolonged period of time (heavy downpoor for several hours a few weeks ago ) i had small gush of water come out of the latch and around the electronic boot close butto when opening the boot

I queried this with Land Rover Extended warranty (my car if 4.5 years old but under extended warranty) and the car has now gone in to the dealership who are charging me diagnostic charge (£180+ VAT) even though i have sent them a video of it occurring! Big Cry

Just trying to see what the issue was for others that have had the problem and what is the fix. Many thanks in advance

My car: 16 plate RRS Autobiography with Pano roof

i took the tailgate trim off and cleaned it thoroughly, also cleaned the tailgate area as that was thick grime, added a few blobs of silicone to the clips before refitting and it seems to have done the job

Had exactly the same issue and my local LR indie told me to take off the rear number plate. This revealed 2 or 3 random holes in the metal behind the plate which I taped over with duct tape and it’s never leaked since.

Easy fix!
