Engine dies on full throttle.

2012 TDV6 3.0 ltr. Today about to overtake going up a hill, like you do in these cars and pedal to the metal it died instantly.
Rather disconcerting so not sure I'll be doing that again any time soon. Foot off pedal and came back to life with acceleration intact but wary of booting it. 70k miles everything else fine. Could it be throttle body. Turbo seems to kick in ok.

nothing but think it's been building up to it now look back. Carbon clean tomorrow so hope that will help and I'll have it diagnosed. one things for sure can't drive it like this. If you need the grunt it has to be there. Actually I'll check the dash when I boot it next time.

Had the same 2 weeks ago my on TDV8 but it was simply one of the top inter cooler hoses with a split in it. worth checking that out just in case.

good idea thanks, my old V8 had the split until I changed for better pipes. D

So, the remap took a couple of hours and the graph printout was interesting to compare before and after.
55 extra horses and just short of 500 torque. Performance is better and the engine note has changed under load, more throaty.
Better on the paddles I now find myself driving it on the rev counter to get the best out of it. Great car great fun.
£250 + vat.

Who did the remap? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Snap. Just the same for me recently. No warning lights but message on the display saying Engine System Fault. And severe limp mode until the hoses were changed. For a few weeks before it went pear-shaped I was noticed a strange quiet groan from the engine under gentle load which I guess was air leaking through the split. Running your had around the pipe will soon show you if there's a split as it'll be quite mucky. Robin

When my old TDV8 split an intercooler hose, there was no warning message, just some noticeable smoke as it over fuelled. I guess there's a threshold value for the error message. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
