2018 306 engine misfiring

My 2018 SDV6 conked out on my wife , luckily she was on our drive at the time so she walked home , I went and managed to restart and drive up to the house but it's misfiring badly and did conk again. Landrover assist came out and said it sounds bad so will be put on a lorry to the dealer today .
Can't think it's the crank as that would be a total failure surely ? It only went in to LR for a service last Friday , I wonder could it be connected , anyway thank the lord it's under warranty ! MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic ,MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !

Dealer mess up, I'd bet (having been on the receiving end myself). They'll blame someone else and try to charge you for something too.

Avoid LR dealers. It's a simple rule. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It had done just 22k miles . Spoke with them today and it's the usual issue , crankshaft bearings had rotated , oil and filters full of swarf and crank about to snap !
One would think given this issue came to light in around 2012 I think , that they would have done something about it by 2018 . It must have cost them a fortune by now or is it Ford who have to keep coughing up and thus LR dealers earn a bit on labour from it .
On the bright side I am currently running up miles on someone else's vehicle (A Velar) and get 22k miles wiped off my engine , I just have to hope that what the dealer said is true that they have never had the engine fail twice on the same vehicle as next time it will be out of warranty and the bill is 20k with the vat Shocked MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic ,MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in !

Unfortunately there is a Facebook group where there is a guy who has had that very problem, and very close together. It is so random, get a warranty sorted to at least cover engine such as warranty direct core cover Joined the X5 45e club

I was under the impression they'd made design changes to the engine to stop it happening from 2017/2018 onwards on the SDV6 units?

Was it an MY18 car with the Touch Pro Duo or was it a 2017 car on a 2018 plate?

First I've heard of a facelifted RRS's crank nearly snapping!

So did they just never fix the issue at all then?? Non JLR Vehicle

Don't all parts fitted by a dealer not come with a two year warranty? Or have they dropped that these days? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It came to light a lot earlier than this. It was an issue with the original 2.7 litre variant of the AJD-V6, before the capacity was increased to 3.0 litres. I had it happen on my 2009/MY2010 3.0 litre.

Unfortunately it is luck of the draw and the likelihood of it happening is low when considered in context of the thousands of cars on the road. If it does happen though, it is painful, as you know. Kev
