Disaster..

I'm currently sat at the side of the road waiting for a tow truck..
Chuffing o/S front wheel bearing has given up. I can wobble the wheel about and if I drive it the disc must be catching the back plate as its making a really bad grinding noise.
I'm only about 6 miles from home but I'm not risking it.

Nope. Totally normal until I started hearing a random rumble on the A14.
A few choice swerves (much to the wife and daughters dismay) made me think it was a wheel bearing or cv joint on the front o/S.
It was when I got off a straight road when it took a turn for the worse. I stopped to check and it was tight. 3 miles later I stopped again but this time I could wobble the wheel about..

Sorry to hear about this. Whatever you do, don't replace it with a cheap eBay bearing. It won't last any time.

Either use genuine (££££), OEM (Timken ~£125) or Optimal from AF (£77 minus forum discount).

I went for an Optimal bearing a couple of months back. 4 year warranty.

Yes I did get notified by the tow truck driver who has the same car same age. He said the same - only quality bearing.

There we go - all done. £280 and that also includes the fuel leak repair from last week.
