Electronic parking brake will not releases. 2013 L494

Hi, I’m a bit of a lurker so don’t post much.

However I’ve got a 2013 L494 and I’m currently sitting in a South London trading estate waiting to be recovered by the AA because my off side rear brake calliper won’t release following engaging it to park.

Is this a common problem and it there anything I can do?

Thank you.

👆 That’s the L320 not L494,they work differently.Ive never seen this happen on a 494 but they work on the calliper so I’m guessing it could be a faulty calliper if the other one is releasing. You could try a diagnostic to wind the calliper back or try the manual way which is one here somewhere. Andy.

Thank you, I’ll do a search.

The AA Guy plugged into the OBD and tried a reset but to no avail.

He couldn’t get the cover off of the brake motor on the back of the calliper so gave up. I did peer over his shoulder at the diagrams on his tablet but I couldn’t see all of the detail.

Ive never had the electronic part off on a RRS but I have on a DS & evoque & if you remove the electric part which is held on with a couple of allen key fittings you can wind it off that way with a socket on the end,but like I say im not 100% sure if the RRS is the same. Andy.

Taken from the RRS w/shop manual, basically as Andy said.
