Suspension strut

Hello everybody.I have a 2011 Range Rover Sport HSE with 70k miles.Yesterday I saw that a small pool of oil had formed on the ground underneath the rear offside suspension strut. The bottom of the strut is oily.Am I right in saying that the only option is to change the strut.? All replies appreciated. I removed the road wheel this morning and serviced the bolts. Thank you. Ian

The vehicle has not been used for a few weeks. Is there fluid within the strut ? The bottom joint of the strut is wet.

Yes the dampers are nitrogen gas and oil filled.

They are easy enough to replace. They are a lot easier than other cars because you haven't got to mess around with spring compressors etc.

Do you have an electrical connector on the top of the strut? If so, you'll need the adaptive dynamics ones which are more costly. Kev

Thanks for the replies. It looks to me like the bottom of the strut has corroded allowing fluid to seep out. They are the ones with a small cylinder attached to the side of the lower end.All part of the Dynamic Response I think.I will remove this week and investigate further.
